Craigellachie 19 yo 1983 / 2002 Samaroli #2606 45%
Great one! Sunny, honeyed, yellow-fruity and yet quite some brawn beneath. There is no doubt in my mind that Craigellachie is a firm member of that esteemed group of textural whiskies that includes names like Mortlach, Ben Nevis and Benrinnes. So warm wax, a single cold struck match suggesting the faintest gunsmoke. Plenty of warm flints, oily malt, a tiny bit of charred ham covered with plenty of honey glaze. Delicious stuff. Fruity with yellow peaches and lemon marmalade, crushed grass and sun warmed fields. Summertime in my glass. 89 pts
