Springbank 27 yo 1994 / 2022 #95 Spheric Spirits 47.1%
About as petrol-ly and green as it gets in Springbank. Spilt petrol in engine rooms on a hot day, white smoke in briny air, green sap and chlorophyll from crushed leaves. White minerals and scratched iron on skin. Salt baked shellfish maybe? The mouth brings much more peat. A dry, saline and crumbly sort of peat, not quite the heavy-muddy-oily sort. Wet roots, buckets of hot ash and more salt and smoke appear. Pristine really, and unusual, with none of the funk or overripe fruit common in Springbank. And there’s the colour too, a pale yellow-green. Some Springbank aficionados may not like this one very much but I do. 91 pts
