Lagavulin 16 yo Feis Ile 2017 56.1%

No distillation date so this is at least 16 years old. As right as rain, this. The way I like it too, quiet wood and some maturity but it does seem to have extra lashings of sweetness without the richer aspects of classic sherry.  The expected dry firewood, glowing embers, white smoke and lapsang souchong are clear, but the sweet meaty flavours of  singed gammon on hot grills, and boiling bone broth seem pronounced. On the palate the sea sings. Brine, preserved lemon (again), fresh seaweed on muddied nets and sea spray on rubber boots and sweet peat. Not as medicinal or herbaceous I think but all round excellent if just a little sweet. 90 pts
