Does exactly what it suggests it would, take the astounding phenolic depth of the 10 at 43%, amp it up with abv and happily find that this too perfectly balances peat and maritime sharpness, like Laphroaig was always meant to be just so. Black oil and oozing peat, seaweed trampled into mud, wintergreen, jujubes, incense ash, dark resins at the bottom of sooty burners, sharp blade of salt, pulled nets, more seaweed fresh and zingy this time, citric lemon and white smoke. Somewhere someone’s melting pitch. So much depth and subtle power. 92 pts
