It’s a huge punchy nose. A veritable wall of peat, black oil, tar and petrochemicals, cold rubber, crushed granite, mountains of salt and pinewood cut with lemon oil. Narrow, concise and immensely powerful, not unlike Caol Ila of the same years actually, except the coastal elements seem dominant in Caol Ila while its the oily peat here. On the tongue, an obsidian scalpel of salt, black ash and tar, a minimal three note chord, booming as thunder through the firmament. 92 pts
