The brand new Emerald Room by The Swan Song has officially opened, make a trip down and there you may find such treasures as this one. An unusual year from Benriach but I find this wonderfully fruity! Redcurrants, apricots, ripe yellows and oranges. It speaks of sunlight in orchards and heat off stones. Baklava and caramelized pastry. Amazingly fresh considering its venerable 40 years. Supple, lightly oily, old ginger, buttery biscuits and marmalade. A bit of clean stovetops, and a bit of windowsill herb pots but fresh and warm throughout. In possession of that liminal character of being fruity and uplifting but anchored at its core. 92 pts
