Longmorn 25 yo 1973 / 1999 Hart Bros #4117 55.5%
One of Michiel’s past Limburg gems. This whisky is almost brown in the glass! A fulsome blend of wood, sweet spices and aromatics. By that I mean oily teak, black tea, unsweetened cocoa, licorice root, clove ointment, and a tablespoon of dark bitter amaro with its heady mix of medicine and cola. I swear I get ginseng, but also a copious amount of mint. So a huge whisky thanks to its cask, but not discernably fruity in that particular way I like in these Longmorns though mayhaps one catches glances of it, like an orchard through wood fences. The balance is on point though, and really quite a feat considering how weighty some of these flavours are. Getting increasingly tannic. 89 pts
