Clynelish bicolour 12 yo donini import 57%

Clynelish bicolour 12 yo donini import 57%

Donini was active up to the mid 90s and given this label, it’s tax strip and code JI, best guess would be an early 90s or late 80s bottling. The nose however gave me pause. Completely and unapologetically austere! Dried lime zest, cold plaster, wet chalk, scratched bakelite, hints of sooty things, unlit lamps and a dab of lanolin. Pure love. The tongue adds a mountain of crushed granite, wet tree bark and moss, cold air, hints of earthy phenols, unburnt tobacco leaf, more soot and globs and grease. Reminiscent of those glorious white labels. 93 pts
