Bowmore 19 yo Cadenhead 46%

Bowmore 19 yo Cadenhead 46%

Vintageless little mini but given the label, something tells me it might be great. Right, I was hoping for fruit, which isn’t here but neither am I disappointed. This one is about sharply outlined white minerals, crushed shells and crushed granite mixed with hot beach sand. Imagine chiseled pillars of rock salt. Hot green sap and menthol, eucalyptus and tiger balm but also wasabi and mustard leaf? Sour pears and … no definitely echoes of tropical fruits flit around. Peatiness grows on the palate where it awakes and ignites into raging coal fire with ash from burning branches. Medicated lozenges and salt spray. Finally even as the sea and peat recede, echoes of fruit continue to linger. 90 pts
