VT brought me back to Cognac with the Lot 65. This is a 1970 vintage in not so many words. Expensive leather, touch of fruity rancio, dark berry compote, molasses and plenty of that aromatic limousin oak. Tons of sweet and dry spices ranging from cloves to licorice, but never heavy or flat. Lick of soot stained fire wood, woodstain, caramel drops, sugar laden Kouign-amann, bitter unsweetened cocoa leading to tannic black tea and rather surprisingly a touch of violet candy. 90 pts
