This one pulls in disparate directions and the result unfortunately detracts from the fruitiness of the Lochside. We have an undeniable fruity core, ripely tropical, warm and juicy, but also yellow raisins plus chocolate boxes of the fruit and nut variety, licks of soot and earthy assam. Tossed leaf litter. On the tongue it turns to sour herbal tea with sap and crushed stems, rucola and mustard leaf. Rather pungent. Its like viewing watercolour reds and oranges through a smokescreen. By no means a bad whisky, just not quite where we want to be. 88 pts
