Is this really my first time putting down notes for this alone? Some say this is the 71 rotation some says weren’t exact. Anyway… I am reminded why I love this. White marble slathered with cold cream. Orris powder, wet green moss on frigid rocks, lumps of wax and pulled turf. Gloriously and deeply mineral, with hints of petroleum, crushed pine needles, almost shiso like, and violet leaf. Hints of what might be peat but really isn’t, plus cold air, sooty lamps and drops of dark resins forming on dried bark long stripped and dried. Unfashionably austere and subtle, yet aloof with a self confidence that surpasses a great many middling malts. Exemplary in its category, but never place it in a line up next to Lagavulin or any sherried beast for that matter. It calls for introspection and a quiet mind. 93 pts
