So much whisky, so little time | Singapore | Tasting Notes

Glenfarclas 1974 / 2014 Family Casks #8579 57.2%

Big, bold and rich. Prime example of how Glenfarclas character and good sherry is together more than a sum of its parts. Lots of bark, a spoonful of medicine over muscavado sugar and molasses fruitcake, dried cranberries, blackberry jam and sugared orange peel. Rich spices are evident. Lots of cinnamon, cardamom and cloves, oxidised red wine but also note that the tannins here are a thing to behold. Immensely firm on the tongue, with a malty oily weight that isn’t easily moved. Oxo cubes and seasoning. Glenfarclas really wears strong sherry well. 92 pts
