Another wondrously mineral Clynelish! Sitting somewhere comfortably between those earthy-mineral 1973s and those waxy lush 1972s. This one colours in the edged minerals in paler, more inviting shades and brings slate, hot paraffin and bakelite into the landscape. Not quite chiseled but nowhere near rich either. Notes of flour, dried lemon rind, shiso leaf, granite dust and petrol fumes here and there, why does this bring so much joy. Lit burners and white coals on the tongue, with perhaps a lick of soot. Clynelish. 92 pts
