Intensely peaty as expected, Concerto 50+ ppm it says, but also – surprise – oily crayons, dried leaf litter, unlit cigars and an earthy farminess. But even together it all struggles to suppress the antiseptic. Laphroaig chuggers will love this one. Plenty of pine oil terpenes and fennel too. Rather complex overall. The drinking, even with water, is a horse kick of peat and turpenes, salt and medicine, which goes down far easier than its 60% suggests. By any global measure a great peated whisky, I suspect this make at 18 will be awesome. 87 pts
