Turns out to be one of the sherried ones. I find a sticky jam with wrinkled purple fruit covered with plenty of dark honey and cocoa. And glace persimmons. Also oiled leather and drippings on hot pans, an old school touch. Dry black tea. Veers over to the phenolic side with black coal, hot engines and soot crusted metal implements. On the tongue black smoke, licorice, salt and a beautiful ancient crumbled peat, desiccated but oily and dark. Old rusty tins of ointment roll around. There is nothing modern about this whisky, and nothing which can be made again. Sherry in measured paces and the slow murky churn of peat. Standard setting. Solid 90 pts
