So much whisky, so little time | Singapore | Tasting Notes

Dalwhinnie 37 yo 1965 / 2003 SMWS 102.14 58.1%

A real surprise. This is rather phenolic and all round excellent. Lots of soot and ink, new carbon paper, freshly turned black earth, a nose full of petrichor and a pile of coal. New rubber boots on which earthily medicinal oils have been spilt. Salty rocks, smear of dried out blackberry jam, and quite a truckload of dark dark wood. The tongue brings to mind the Rosebank 20yo Zenith, mineral oils, medicinal rubs, dried bark and leather, ripe pu erh, and smoking leaves at point of ignition. Powerful, firm and phenolic, like nothing they make today. 94 pts
