This one is an example of sherry as a veneer. Its a tannic but rich layer with black tea and dried bark matched with chocolate boxes and tobacco leaf, all rather dry initially. Leather, bitter walnut and licorice but also skins of kyoho grapes and something like prune liqueur. Its an old sort of sherry with soot and dry dirt making it pleasantly earthy, but the form of Glen Grant is coiled and ready to spring with a tense litheness and focused minerality. Hot flints, unripe prunes, steel pans and waxed brown paper. Dry! 88 pts
