Huge Lagavulin that immediately brings to mind the style of the 12 yo special releases, though this one seems to lean cleaner, sharper and less brutal. To be sure we are very much topped up on new rubber boots, cakes of gunky sea mud, burnt herbals reminiscent of an earthy mezcal, sea lashed decks and a coast littered with marine flora and fauna the morning after a storm. The smoke is dry and salty again, like burnt driftwood. Peppery saline and mentholated. 91 pts always excellent.
