So much whisky, so little time | Singapore | Tasting Notes

Mortlach 16 yo 1970 / 1986 Intertrade 58.7%

This one was phenomenal. A salted ham umami, slightly burnt butter sauce, plenty of rye and dark grains, but also plenty of polished cedar, old waxes and lifting resins. Plus a pantry full of waxed oranges, fresh nutmegs grated, smears of soot and coal. These Mortlachs have bottomless depth when its stars are aligned. Lime cordial, black pepper, little woody herbaceous notes and apricot jam. Weighty unctuous mouthfeel, firm structure, fautless whisky. 92 pts
