A bourbon bomb, which suits Benrinnes especially well. Dry leather, heavy creams and oils, caramel and copious amounts of dry woodspice like cinnamon nutmeg and pepper. Nonetheless it isn’t exactly sweet and these bourbon aspects ae quickly tamed by a boisterous spirit. Benrinnes is on display here. Big boned and hefty, full of grilled meats, warm oils, burnt ends, hot greasy pans, working ovens, leftover soot and unburnt firewood. Almost dirty but not quite. Oak and tannic wood is everywhere.
