James MacArthur’s: Glen Spey 21 yo 1970, Macduff 21 yo 1967, Dufftown 13 yo 1978

Glen Spey 21 yo James MacArthur’s 55.4% ~1970 bottled 1991

Spirity, powerful, thick and oily. Juniper and pine air freshener. Little paper flowers. Frankly horrid. 70 pts

Macduff 21 yo 1967 James MacArthur’s 55.5%

Better. Dusty cereal, dry wood, brown sugar. Rooibos, some hazy spice cabinet. Toasted rice cakes. Still, not idea. 78 pts

Dufftown 13 yo James MacArthur’s 59.4% ~bottled 1991

Powerful, plain white sugar, cold butter. Newly broken branches. Dusty dried glue, grated ginger, powerful and hot. Paint stripper. 70 pts

A trio of unabated wretchedness.
