So much whisky, so little time | Singapore | Tasting Notes

Glentauchers 30 yo 1981 / 2011 Signatory #1049 56.8%

Honestly, a challenging whisky. Yes elements of a sherry overlay are evident, however cursory, but the malt is powerful and strident to the point that sweet cinnamon and red jam wilt before it. Essence of stewed cabbage and clear vegetable broth, and starchy too. Add some herbaceous parsley and some medicinal leaf. Not exactly friendly stuff. Very firm whisky to the end, and this potent herbaceousness gives no quarter. 84 pts
