Great years at Bruichladdich. Fresh, zingy, cut limes, cut grass, parsley, green apples, green kiwis and other tangy unripe fruit. An attractive acidity. And on the tongue some dusty malt, clean pear eau de vie, vitamin C chewables, and a surprisingly salty lift. Don’t think I’ve experienced a Bruichladdich this suddenly salty before. A simple, light and playful whisky absolutely charming. 87 pts

Taking a turn for the serious now. This one comes with tonic water, mineral oil and sooty tools which someone was cleaned rather lazily. Those cut green fruit are back along with a woody pith and cut stalks effect. A little drop of medical rubbing oil, ballpoint ink, crayons and then a salty effervescence buzzing on the tongue. Not a heavyweight whisky but lots to go on. Outstanding really. Might this have been accidentally mixed with something peated? 90 pts
