This is bottled for the Whisky Exchange, cask no. 1132, which yielded 187 bottles.
That’s 130.9 out of 250 litres after 25 years, slightly over half full. Angels were thirsty on this one?
Balmenach 1988, 25 yo, cask no. 1132, Signatory Vintage
Nose: All sweet and fruity, marmalade, stewed fruits in syrup, cinnamon. eucalyptus. Bit of funk at the back of the nose too, like fresh compost. With water, becomes more flowery and honied.
Palette: Thick and chewy, jam and jamaica cake. A dessert whisky? Nice tannins to hold the act together. Some flints, some grassiness. With water, cereals, chrysanthemum tea and biscuits.
Finish: Long and spicy, in a sweet dessert way.
