This is a lovely elegant Linkwood, refined by time and wood into a perfectly balanced whisky full of polished wood hues and warm american oak sweetness. So – Deeply polished oak panels, cedar chests, sweet cream, tobacco boxes, unlit cigars, butterscotch tarts drizzled with cinnamon powder and deep heat clove balm. Touches of polished copper and minty jelly jujubes. On the tongue there’s the woody sweetness of muscavado and dessert spices. And no excessive wood tannins. 88 pts

Linkwood 11 yo 2007 / 2019 SMWS 39.176 58%

An interesting turn here. Dusty cereal. Lots of earthy petrichor, clay dust and broken concrete. It’s got some spine. Rusty rebar, hot white sugar on the cusp of melting. Dust on hot light bulbs. Toasted rye bread, a strangely olive oil, herb and black olive pesto dip. An outspoken Linkwood, like the friend with controversial views. 87 pts
