Wardhead 19 yo 1997 Pisces Stellar Selections #186 50.7% (teaspooned Glenfiddich)
Very natural with nothing to hide behind. Here all clarity and sharpness, barley sugar and tons of fresh malt. Quite some chalk and minerals emerge too, along with a chicory salad and butter. Akin to chewing on a healthy chia mix. An excellent drinker. Now why is the regular stuff so timid? 87 pts
The Huntly Burnside 18 yo 1997 Dimensions Duncan Taylor #6481 52.5% (teaspooned Balvenie)
This one is rounded and enveloping, with a soft but plush weight to the spirit. Thin caramel and vanilla sugar notes. Fruity hints abound, and so does dry malt, rye flakes, geosmin, and vegetable sap. Surprisingly hot on the tongue with white pepper and green capsicums. 84 pts
Westport 18 yo 1997 The Oceans Duncan Taylor for Whisk-e Japan #1500071 58.4% (teaspooned Glenmorangie)
Obviously sherry driven whisky. Entirely decent but not a stellar whisky. The sherry and wood together lean dry and tannic sort of sherry with dry wood, cocoa powder, black tea, clove, aniseed balls and tobacco. But also chewed pencil ends and some bulky lactones. And clearly wanting some fruity richness. 85 pts
