Fresh, clean, bare boned natural whisky. What’s not to love? Lots of chalk and wet stones, and lemon and lime rubbed on metal. Totally high toned and crystalline but not screechy, a style I’ve overlooked till recently. Bay leaf, freshly dry cleaned wool and wet plaster. Admittedly hot and a notch too wild on the tongue, but no feints. Basically it’s ready to go, can’t wait to see these over the next few years. 86 pts

This is effervescent lemon-lime powder mixed with pulverised granite, menthol, calcium tablets and a sliver of hard toffee candy. Even leaner, even more austere, it’s the ascetic saint of hermits, The antithetical response to a sherry bomb. You could look through its glassy transparency and see nothing, like many would, but the true of heart would see a mirror, and in it, their love of malt. 86 pts
