So much whisky, so little time | Singapore | Tasting Notes

Secret Highland 36 yo 1983 / 2019 Sansibar 51.2%

Said to be a Clynelish, won’t be surprised if it’s really Glenmorangie. It’s certainly a well aged malt, transparent enough to reveal these silky watercolour notes that swirl about. Dusty potpourri, cedar chips, candle smoke, coconut shavings, caramel drops, a leather glove, vanilla pods, tobacco, old oak chairs, threadbare carpets. A lick of soot on cold glass and dust from the bottom of a bad of charcoal. Maybe Clynelish after all. Age has brought a placid elegance to the nose. On the tongue some jamaica cake, engine oil, dried apricot, mixed peel and opens into unglazed clay cups, aniseed liqueur, earth and a hint of rooty mezcal even. Only age brings this kind of depth. 92 pts I seriously underestimated the first half of this bottle but god the last 3 pours. 92 pts
