Ardbeg 24 yo Cadenhead for Sestante 54.4% ~ attributed 1965
This seems like the right day to have an old Sestante. A nose to make you sigh and check its current auction price. Stunning. Zinging salt air over sunlit waves crashing against a ferocious peat, intense but crumbly-dry, speaking of entombed roots and parched black and browns. Hot tar, glowing white embers in a bed of hot white ash. Phenomenal concentration! Sharp salt, seaweed, cold machines and singer oil, then gentian bitters, mint leaf, myrtle and a hot eucalyptus and camphor rub. Just add a single green olive to this sensory storm. Ultimately it is a narrow but sculpted profile that marries musculature with perfect poise, did Arnold practice ballet? Reminds me of the Ardbeg Mizuhashi which is to my memory still more cutting and powerful. Yes, this is one to cut you deeply. 93 pts
Thanks Billie!
