Royal Brackla Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice ‘Map Label’ 1991 / 2011 46%

Very nice actually, toasted cereals and lightly nutty with buttery creamy overtones, a bit like toasted Macadamias. Tends towards a savoury side with stock and a fresh herb bouquet. Medium weight and an oily grip on the tongue, with a nondescript savouriness, and here drying with light fennel and ginger powder. The tiniest suggestion of salt. Not bad at all. 84 pts

Definitely a savoury one, with marrow and chicken cubes in a stew, along with a bunch of root vegetables. Molten paraffin. Some mix of earthy savoury herbs like bay or sage. Well used copper pots with burnt undersides. Oiled cedar and some blend of nut and vegetable oils. Again weighty on the tongue, with a warming heat, and a return of savoury herbs at the finish. 88 pts
