Highland Park 22 yo Cadenhead 80 proof

Joy in a glass. A multi layered Highland Park that balances deep phenols with a litheness of being. So a deep oozing phenolic base matched with smoking braziers, blackened and charred, into which woods and precious resins are thrown. Musty ropes, fresh cut mushrooms, moist earth under damp logs. Old canvas sheets in storage and worn but well oiled metal grills. Greasy seawater. neither heavy nor huge. 90 pts

Highland Park 14 yo 1978 / 1993 Cadenhead 55.2%

Yikes, exceedingly powerful and rather raw. Salt air, metal polish, cold granite and graprefruit pith makes for an ascerbic and somewhat frozen profile. Raw on the tongue throughout. Anchovies, some sort of oil. Too raw. 80 pts
