Glen Elgin 25 yo 1995 / 2021 Signatory #3270 52.3%
Full of that ripe orchard fruit character that Glen Elgin seems to be blessed with. Ripe pears and stonefruit are upfront, green and tart with a citric juiciness. It is not a thin whisky either, on the tongue a streak of grease and seared pans surprises you, along with more than a lick of soot. Lanolin, hot stones, shortcrust and touches of fennel and parsley. Piney touches here and there, and a fairly substantial body really. Answers the question what should a workhorse malt taste like. 88 pts

Sort of similar but a more angular a less composed younger self. The markers of immaturity are prominent, but nothing time won’t dispel, yet very much owning it’s ripe orchard fruit and greasy personality even now. Deceptively heavy for such a profile. Completely drinkable but clearly on the young side. One must comment Diageo for their consistency. 86 pts
