Springbank 11 yo 2006 / 2017 Local Barley 53.1%
Big boisterous Springbank, up to the ears in oily petrochemical notes of spilt diesel on a hot day next to a chugging engine, and baskets of fruit on the verge of spoiling. Sharp green fruit acid. An exacting style that does not pad its pointy ends. Bung cloth, clay earth, white mushrooms, seagoing ropes and wool sweaters that has been damp for too long, it’s a kind of olfactory signature for 2000s Springbank. Lit cigars, white ash, hot green jujubes in little copper tins. Will be classic in time. 89 pts
