Sometimes called Minmore in the past. This one manages an overload of wood but without the heavy oak lactones that can block out the good nuances of oak. We have black tea, soot stains, dry and tannic bark powders in sachets of medicine, but also old chests stained by resins and grime. Camphorous, rubbery and oily. Crusty rye bread rounds out a globally dry nose but on the tongue softer elements of sweet blackberry and maraschino cherries appear. Certainly is a grippy and stern, and with this power there is no escaping. It is as if the whisky is scowling at you through the glass. 88 pts
