When your relatives start asking you which whisky you want for Christmas, count your addiction as obvious.
Rosebank ‘Flora & Fauna’ 12 yo
Nose: Fragrant and light, very floral, touch of ginger and a touch of green. Lemondrops. A whole bouquet of freshly bloomed flowers. Lilacs? But delicately so, like the scent of a beautiful woman as she passes by and you turn, but ah circumstances conspire to thwart a fleeting glimpse. What the eye cannot tell, the nose suggests. Clear honey, musk melons, canned peach. So delicate and so inviting. The ghost of an opportunity lingers to commemorate a moment missed.
And so it is with Rosebank, gone too soon. RIP, 1840 – 1993. “A grievous loss” said Michael Jackson.
Palette: Malty, ginger tea, white pepper. Grass, sucking on apricot stones. Sweet light honey. Not a bad follow on from the nose, but I was led to expect more maybe.
Finish: Dry and a little short, with some citrus, like the moment after a gulp of 7-up. With that nose, who can complain. Lovely lowlander, a great representative of a style that is not in fashion anymore.
