Inchgower 12 yo 40% ‘Arthur Bell’ ~ mid 80s
Very nice, some old soot laden grease, with dry bracken and crunching leaf litter underfoot. Cold coal stoves, burnt butter and a metal pot that once held parsley and meat stock. Surprisingly phenolic! The tongue blends a burnt black pepper sauce, Vicks chest rub and a western sort of herbal tea. Completely caught off guard! Only a little simple on the palate. 88 pts

Ok it’s a step down. Dusty malt, rather plain with a yeasty character to it. Rye flakes, no great depth here. Some hint of meaty sulphur from burnt things. Again a peppery heat on the tongue and lots of simple maltiness but this one wallows in mediocrity. 81 pts
Loch Lomond (Inchmurrin) 9 yo 1985/ 1994 Cadenhead 64%
Young and painfully mentholated. White hot and whistle clean. Zest, peppermint leaf, lava and shiso leaf, that’s it. Nice emergent unripe citrus bitterness though. 84 pts but supremely drinkable. This has got to be the best tasting hand sanitiser right now.
