Old Longmorn is usually fabulous, but I haven’t had much luck with this bottler’s minis. So, disappointing again. A musty sort of whisky with cooking oil, scratched copper and thick coagulated honey. Maybe something of cooked apricots in sauce but also a touch of vegetable broth. Fruit is clearer on the tongue but it’s not helping. Why is this a profile so similar to other James MacArthur miniatures, did the person choosing the casks love musty cooking oil? 83 pts

Better. Hay, dried earth, pulled roots left in the sun, hot caramel and patchouli? Even a little phenolic in the most clean way possible – Clean rubber and washed shovels maybe. Dried branches destined for kindling, leathery tree resins. Some interesting facets but just not put together very well. Also disintegrates into a hot bitter sludge on the tongue.  85 pts
