Rosebank 15 yo for Peck Milano by Zenith Italia 50%
Peck is an upmarket restaurant and food emporium, evidently they like whisky as well. No indication when this was distilled but it is certainly a later period 90s Rosebank, with malty butter and barley sugar unctuousness, lemony fresh and clean. But also some petrichor and morning dew. A short measure of chalk dust and a drop Singer oil too, comes especially apparent on the tongue. It’s exactly what you expect of a fresh Rosebank. There’s no picture of the bottle anywhere online, so I need to look for mine. 87 pts
Rosebank 21 yo 1978 / 2000 Douglas Laing Old Malt Cask 336 bottles 50%
This one is far more leafy, with milky sap and streaks of runny green. A fistful of crushed salad, which must have included dill and fennel, garnished with the raw flesh of nutmeg fruit. Is that even edible? Grass juice and raw green honeydew, being somewhat sharp and acidic yet slightly musky on the tongue. Fresh pulled roots and loam bring a clean earthiness but its no good trying to get away from the green leafiness of this, yet it remains very enjoyable. 88 pts
