So much whisky, so little time | Singapore | Tasting Notes

Talisker 25 yo 2007 edition 58.1%

It’s a crystalline peat, well polished, clear and luminous but rounded by long years into a round and translucent thing. I remember how undervalued and under-appreciated these were just some years ago, but like with artists, it only dawned upon us after Diageo nerfed this series. Clear earthy rootbound peat, plenty of peppery heat, glints of salted rocks, driftwood, fresh catch. Sort of round and weightily syrupy, hints of something richer even, but it comes out expressed in peat tones and mentholated medicines. Lemon rinds, oiled wood wintergreen, tangy maritime notes. An intense and linear style that right to the glorious point. 91 pts
