Glen Moray 24 yo 1992 /2017 Cadenhead 50.9%
Signs of inactive casks unfortunately. White paper with an acrid burnt edge and a good mix of piquant greens like dill and coriander come immediately, but its by no means a giving nose. Glen Moray itself has a backbone and a certain oily roundness presents itself but its not looking good. The pessimism continues on the tongue with the bitter bite of arugula and spicy hot jalapenos. Not a bad whisky, stunted perhaps. 82 pts

Much better. Honey, sponge cake and poaching syrup, and a fair chunk of bourbon cask here, oaky but light on its feet. Light mineral touches embellish the sweeter elements. The tongue diverges significantly, though not bad at all. Gentle sizzle of curry leaf, plus clean earth, graphite oil and a bit of yellow flowers. A spoonful of wasabi explodes out of nowhere. Clean cask, good age, just somewhat discordant. 87 pts
